A Note From Your President...

I am honored to serve as your President for the upcoming year. You may have heard me say how impressed I was to come to a small town like Galva (similar to the town where I grew up) and discover the long rich history for not only the town by especially the Chamber. One of my first task this year involves looking at ways to enhance our existing programs.

The board and I have a few ideas for some new things too, so watch and see what pops up around town.

Now for some housekeeping, firstly, I would like to encourage you to join the Chamber, to attend the functions and or meetings and also join a committee. It is extremely hard to be effective and get programs off the ground when we have a limited number of volunteers. It is my responsibility to keep the committees and board occupied, expect a call. We want to make things happen and with just a little more help from you we can.

Secondly, I would like to thank the existing board members for their dedication in 2007. I look forward to working with you in 2008. I truly appreciate your investment and interest

in the Galva Chamber of Commerce. Finally, the news letter is one item we would like to add on a regular basis. It is an effort to enhance communication. Additionally, we have divided the membership list and you have been assigned to a specific board member. You will be contacted in the near future by your representative. We hop that this will also facilitate the flow of information. Please share your thoughts, concerns and questions with the rep as they contact you throughout the year.

Activities Supported by the Chamber...

New Ribbon Cutting--our chance to welcome new business and introduce them to the community through this ceremony and press exposure.
Galva Bucks--a community gift certificate program designed to keep dollars within Galva, while giving the recipient the flexibility of choice in shopping at any Galva business.
Galva Greeters--a welcome program designed to greet new residents of Galva while allowing local businesses the opportunity to have instant exposure to new customers.
Employment Program--reply card program, placed in surrounding schools which match students interested in seeking employment in the Galva Community with employers.
Lunch in the Park--a community event encouraging residents to come together for fellowship while enjoying the atmosphere of a charming downtown park, indulging in local cuisine and experiencing local talent. Businesses, groups & other organizations also have the opportunity to exhibit during this event.

Flower Pot Replacement Program--this beautification program coordinates the display of flowers throughout town aiding businesses in their selection of flowers to mark the beginning of Spring in Galva.
More on 34--The Biggest Yard Sale in Illinois, the chamber promotes participation for this event pulling people off the interstates and back into the heartland of rural, scenic America.
Community Achievement Recognition--annually the Chamber recognizes outstanding contributions to the community through its Citizen of the Year, Volunteer of the Year & Friends of the Chamber awards.
Ol' Fashion Christmas Festival--this annual events kicks off the holiday season, with a visit from Santa and lots of holiday cheer. The event is complete with the Veterans Park Light Display a beautiful display of lights and decorations.

Membership (click here for membership form)...

Membership is free to non-profits. Individuals & businesses are encouraged to become members of the Galva Chamber of Commerce. Dues are used to help finance the annual Chamber projects.
